Karl Moore (academic)

Karl Moore is an Associate Professor at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Strategy and Organization at the Desautels Faculty of Management and the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill's Faculty of Medicine, however, he is not a medical professional nor does he possess specialized medical training, he does leadership teaching and coaching, hence his appointment in medicine.〔(McGill Department of Neurology )〕
He is also the Co-Director of the Advanced Leadership Program, a program he runs jointly with renowned management guru Henry Mintzberg. Prior to coming to McGill, Dr Moore was on the faculty of Templeton College at Oxford University for five years, where he remains an Associate Fellow.〔http://www.gtc.ox.ac.uk/academic/fellowship/associate-fellows.html〕 Before joining academia, he worked 12 years in sales and marketing management positions in the high tech industry with IBM, Bull and Hitachi.
The winter 2005 issue of ''Business Strategy Review'', published by the London Business School, identified Karl Moore among a group of world’s greatest business thinkers. His work has been published in a number of top academic journals, including SMJ, JIBS, AMP, MIR, JABS, JPIM and others. His research as received over 1800 Google Scholar citations, putting him in the top half of full professors at the Desautels Faculty.

He conducts a weekly video column on leadership called "Talking Management",〔 〕 for the ''Globe and Mail'', Canada's national newspaper. Moore has interviewed Nobel Prize Winner Mohammed Yunus, Economist Editor-in-Chief, John Micklethwait, Sir Richard Branson, Bombardier CEO Pierre Beaudoin, Rio Tinto CEO Tom Albanese, African businessman Mo Ibrahim and business professors like INSEAD's Yves Doz, Wharton's Michael Useem, Harvard University's Richard Hackman, and McGill's Henry Mintzberg. ISBN 978-0-415-77720-9.〕 In April 2009, Karl Moore and historian David Lewis’ book, ''The Origins of Globalization'' was published by Routledge. His next book is entitled: The PostModern Generation:: ''Working With Under 35s The Way They Want To Be Worked With'' and will be out in 2016. His next book, is ''Quiet Leaders: Introverts in the Executive Suite''.

In May 2012 Karl was honoured by the McGill Alumni Associate with the 2012 Faculty Award for Excellence in Alumni Activities.
Starting in winter 2014 Karl does an hour long radio show on Montreal Bell Media station CJAD, with plans to go national in Fall 2015. It is an one-on-one interview with a CEO or other senior leader on leadership, organizational strategy and work life integration.
